No progress at this time. This device is to new. Maybe in the future.

  1. I don't need to root the tablet -- I just want to get it connected to the computer via USB for adb debugging (for android app development). Any chance you know of a USB driver that will work with the NX700QC16G?

  3. Great, thanks! It turns out that for purposes of development, the generic Google USB driver worked fine (after I learned about editing the .ini file for ADB). However, the rooting information may be useful for the future at some point...

  4. I have confirmed that iroot run from a PC does work. You do have to turn on USB Debugging by in the "secret" Developer options menu. You enable the Developer options menu by tapping multiple times on the Build number in the About Tablet tab found in the settings menu.

The stand-alone Android version does not work... you need to run the PC version which can be found at http://www.mgyun.com/en/getvroot

The app is written in Chinese so if you have trouble you can find information on Google and on Youtube on how to use it. The process takes several minutes. So you have to be a little patient and resist your impulse to disconnect USB cable part way through the process. This would probably turn your tablet into a paper weight.

With root the 1GB partition for apps becomes irrelevant. The simplest way to fix the issue is to install an app such as Link2SD, and run your apps from your microSD card. But with root access using the proper tools you can also repartition your internal storage.

I am now busy installing all of my favorite apps that require root access starting with Root Explorer and Titanium Backup and going from there.
